Yvonne Magee-Scott
Yvonne’s abstract paintings are expressions of the force and energy within the natural world. Sometimes, we think we ‘observe’ nature - but in truth, we are an integral part of it. Yvonne always feel conscious of the energy ‘beyond the appearance.’ These deeper forces are not visible; however, they can be felt by all of us, but only when we slow down to look, listen, smell, taste, and, above all, feel. Yvonne aims to help both herself and others to reconnect with the energy of nature. Yvonne believes it is the essential oneness of all life. Her paintings open a door to the world of colour, light, and movement within the form.
Yvonne’s education and background in art education and art therapy and her practice as a therapist all feed into her paintings. Yvonne has lived in the Arizona desert, the American Pacific Northwest, the east coast of Fife, and now in the Glens of Antrim. All of these places further inform her work. Time spent alone in the wilderness, or even the garden, drives the paintings.
Over the years, her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is also in corporate and private collections in Scotland, Northern Ireland, France, England, Australia, the US, Vietnam, and China, and in publications.
People who live with Yvonne’s paintings often tell her that they give them a deep sense of joy, uplift, and connection with life.
