Marie O’Gara is a mixed media artist who, after leaving school, went on to study fine art at the Crawford College of Art and Design Cork. She left to pursue a career in nursing, which she continued until her children had grown. She subsequently returned to art and, over the last number of years, has studied abstract art under several international artists, including Nick Wilton’s CVP.

Her roots and ancestry are in Sligo, and she is very influenced by this magical, mythical place, with its deep roots in history, its evocative, beautiful landscape, and its rich culture. She loves living in a coastal area and strives to create paintings that contain a piece of this world in which she has been deeply rooted for so many years. A place that inspires her. A place she feels an intimate and deep connection to.
