Ber Earley
Ber Earley is an artist based in Co Kerry, who is inspired by ordinary everyday scenes, aspects of life, wonderful patterns and variety in nature around her. Unlocking creativity within her, it brings her back to a sense of self. Working in oils and watercolours, Ber expresses her emotional response to her surroundings and moments in her life. Life can be frenetic and there is a lot we can take for granted and not even notice. Ber’s aim is to share with the viewer a space to pause and feel the magic and wonder of the simple and seemingly mundane that surrounds us. Working from her home-based studio, her paintings begin life as observations and associated emotions towards the subject matter. Exploring a variety of subjects from landscapes to still life to peopled scenes, she works mainly in oils as well as watercolours. As she works and paints, the piece takes on a life of its own. Following on this journey, she endeavours to arrive at a final piece that expresses her emotional response.
Her paintings are generally realistic and impressionistic. Ber likes to mix rich, vibrant colours. When working in oils, Ber loves the feeling of generously applying the paint to the canvas with the painting knife or a brush, fingers also included, thus achieving more luminous, textured work. Ber’s art practice stems from early years and has continued throughout adult life despite pursuing a scientific career. Recently, she has had the opportunity to concentrate on her first love.
Largely self taught, she frequently attends workshops, courses and master classes to hone her skillset and feed her creativity. Her work continues to progress and evolve as she grows and challenges herself as an artist. Ber finds it a fulfilling experience to be able to express emotional perspective on life where words fail!
