Nessa is an abstract painter and teacher living and working in County Wicklow, Ireland. Her paintings are created from a place of wide-eyed curiosity, the freedom to play, and explore. Through bold brush marks, vibrant colour, intricate pattern, and richly layered, textured surfaces, her work unfolds intuitively, allowing complex visual narratives to emerge over time.

A magnetic pull to travel and experience ancient cultures strongly influences her artistic expression. Nessa responds to these rich and exciting environments in a felt sense of place rather than a depiction of a particular landscape.

At the heart of Nessa’s  work is a fascination with pattern.

“Humans are pattern seekers, we have been making our mark since the dawn of time. Perhaps it gives us a sense of who we are, an identity, in a vast universe, grounding us in a time of rapid and constant change.”

After many years working in the IT industry, Nessa returned to college as a mature student in 2015 to study Visual Art at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Ireland. She continues to develop her practice through ongoing professional study, including the Creative Visionary Programme Masterclass with Nicholas Wilton (2019, 2020, 2024 & 2025).

Nessa is a member of  Visual Artists Ireland (VAI), Art Tribe, Art Nxt Level and the Art 2Life Academy mentorship programmes.

Nessa’s earlier experience in sculptural fibre art continues to inform the tactile quality and depth of her paintings. She has exhibited widely in both solo and group exhibitions in Ireland and internationally, including Finland, Spain, Brazil, Florida and Morocco.
